|n 1999 Deere introduced the 4000 series Compact Tractor, manufactured at JD's 200-acre Augusta, Georgia plant. The half a million square foot factory was built in 1991, but a further quarter of a million square foot factory was added in 2001 to complement the growth of the compact tractor market.
